okay, boomer

Currently listening to: Runaway Train – Soul Asylum

Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughing at the rain
A little out of touch, a little insane
It’s just easier than dealing with the pain

Three years ago, I went to A Snail’s Pace Running Shop to get properly fitted for running shoes. It came highly recommended by my physical therapist friends and other runners I knew. When I got there, they used a 3D digital foot mapping scanner to measure my foot’s length, width, and arch height. It was impressive—they could analyze exactly what kind of shoe and insole would best support my feet. They even had a treadmill where you could test the shoes and insoles before committing.

I ended up buying three pairs of shoes that day: New Balance, Brooks, and Hoka. The first year, I wore out my New Balance. Now, I’m almost done with my Brooks and ready to move on to the Hokas. When I mentioned this to my friends, their response caught me off guard: “Okay, boomer.”

Confused, I asked what they meant. They explained that the boomer generation has officially claimed the Hoka brand—apparently, everyone and their moms are wearing them now.

I had no idea when that happened, but wow, that escalated quickly.  I’m no where close to being a boomer but here I am, just trying to find good workout shoes for my flat size-seven feet, and now I’m unintentionally joining the boomers…hope they don’t mind…

Hey as long as the shoes are comfortable and fit good don’t listen to your friend because comfort is what matters at the end of the day.

Wow I wish we had something similar here to measure our feet.

Hahaha! Welcome to the club! However, I have never heard of Hoka. I have a pair of Brooks that are great for walking. But … as I attempt to avoid things that age me, I will forego the Hokas! Love that you were able to get your shoes in pink!

Hehehe thank you!! Hokas are super comfortable!

Haha, that’s hilarious. It’s funny how trends can take off like that. At least you’ve got comfortable shoes, no matter who’s wearing them.

Exactly!! They’re very comfortable and I could see why the boomers would wanna get in on this too
