Growing up in a strict Korean Christian household, it was obvious that I would be a Republican.  But as time went by and I got tired of the plutocratic status quo, slavishness, hypocrisy of separation of church and state, and felt as though the Republican Party had moved too far to the right. 

The welfare of corporations and 1% are considered more important than that of everyone else.  The billionaires have lined the Republican party pockets because they know that there will be some sort of corporate tax rate cut for them and the Democrats have been promising to impose higher taxes on the rich, so this should be a no brainer for those with deep pockets.  This is why the rich will always get richer.  I get that, they worked hard or they were born into wealthy families and want to hold on to what they have but first and foremost, they are human just like everyone else. 

I also don’t subscribe to the MAGA rhetoric or the haterade. Love is love.  I don’t care who marries who because it does not affect me personally.  If a woman has a miscarriage and requires a D&C, she should be allowed to have the procedure.  

I switched it up and registered as a Democrat because as a double minority, this would make sense, right?  The Dems are known for advocating for the civil rights of minorities and backing social welfare programs such as EBT, Medicaid, and disability programs.  A few years later, I came to regret this decision as well.  They lack accountability and are something of a milquetoast.  I dislike that some of the richest Congress members such as Nancy Pelosi, can make all these lucrative investments because she has access to information from the committees she is involved with and has found a loophole for violating anti-corruption laws. I too feel that they gone too far to the left. 

The best thing that came out of the left was the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) so that it could expand Medicaid and decrease the health care disparity.  I know that some of the Republicans loathe Obamacare but from someone working in healthcare, it has truly saved lives and kept hospitals open. If enough people are unable to pay their hospital bills, they could shut down the local hospitals and when that happens, the residents living nearby are forced to go to hospitals that are further away, which could increase mortality rates.  Every minute second counts. 

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, as of now I don’t particularly like either parties.  I am an issue-driven voter who is sentient, not a feckless member of society.  Social responsibility is key.  Being a good person is another part of the equation.
