take me back

LINK: take me back

Which food, when you eat it, instantly transports you to childhood?

짜장면 (jja jang myun) always takes me back to when I was little and in the motherland. I crave these black bean noodles (beef or vegetarian with an egg on top) often, it pairs well with sweet and sour chicken or pork. I am not a fan of pork so there’s that.

When I was staying with my grandmother in Korea, I would eat this almost every other day for months. I never grew tired of it.

Blackcurrant jam. My Gran used to make it for me from blackcurrants she grew along her back fence. We used to visit every Saturday afternoon and have tea, sandwiches (mine with the blackcurrant jam on) and homemade cake. Gee, haven’t thought of this for ages. Don’t see much blackcurrant jam here.
Thank you for the memory jog!🙏😊
