I’ve been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I’ve been raising up my hands, drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start my own religion
What’s something that your parents used to say to you that you say now?
Prompt created by yours truly.

I’d love to read your responses
Whenever I did or said something that wasn’t to my mom’s liking, she would end our conversations with, “이제 어쩔 거야 (now, what are you gonna do)?”
For years, I hated it when she said it to me. But I did find it helpful. What was I going to do? I had to grind my gears and think of options and the possible outcomes that could arise if I chose a, b, or c.
When my friends vent to me about their problems, I sometimes ask them, “Now, what are you gonna do?”
I could easily give them an answer that makes sense to me but is it the answer that they want to hear?
I’ve learned that sometimes it’s better for people to problem solve and come up with their own answers. When my friends talk through their issues and figure out their next step aloud, they’re more likely to follow through than if I tell them what I think they should do.
