사탕해 (i candy you)

LINK: 사탕해 (i candy you)

Currently listening to: Candy – Mandy Moore

I’m so addicted to the loving that you’re feeding to me (ooh)
Can’t do without it
This feeling’s got me weak in the knees (oh, baby, baby)
Body’s in withdrawal, every time you take it away (ooh)
Can’t you hear me calling? Begging you to come out and play
(Oh, yeah)

This song came on randomly on my Pandora app while I was in the middle of writing a post, which then prompted me to write this blog entry.

When Yummy and I were in Dallas, lying in bed, we made a pinky promise: we would never tell a man “사랑해” (sarang hae)—which means “I love you” in Korean. Instead, we’d tell guys, “사탕해” (satang hae)—which translates to “I candy you”.

A Korean guy professed his love to me after three dates. I thought to myself, “What does he know? He barely knows me.” I replied back to him, “사탕해” and he looked at me quizzically and then he quickly became deflated. I broke up with him after a week because he was whining about me not saying 사랑해 back to him.

I have a really hard time even now saying it to guys I have dated. I don’t recall telling any of my exes that I loved them. Does that make me toxic AF?

Not toxic but if they ask for context then maybe its not clear to them.

Does that make you toxic AF after three dates?

Hell no. That guy was crazy pants.

    After six months?

    Maybe.

    After a year?

The sex must be great if you don’t love him by then…

That said, telling someone you love them (genuinely!) is not a bad thing to swear off.

A life without love is lonely.

Clarifying: not a bad thing that needs to be or should be sworn off. Original wording is ambiguous – I’m NOT saying it’s a bad thing you should swear off!

Nah it’s not toxic , I mean you don’t have to tell your lover that you love them , actions are better than words , I mean , words can be empty , right ?

I also think it is risky to say those three words. Words may not mean a thing when the crunch comes.

      thank you, Cai!
