Currently listening to: DREAM – LISA feat. Kentara Sakaguchi

Whenever I close my eyes
It’s taking me back in time
Been drowning in dreams lately
Like it’s 2019, baby
Whenever I’m missing you
Call you up, but I can’t get through
Don’t know where you sleep lately
But I’ll see you in my dreams, maybe
We can catch up, drive down our old street
If all that we were is all that we’ll ever be
It’s bittersweet
At least a girl can dream

How did you learn about sex?

Prompt snagged from: NY Times

In three different ways, go figure.

Sex education in grade school (before this, I thought people got pregnant from kissing and hugging). But in a scientific way. That’s when we learned about the sex organs and reproduction. I thought it left us students with more questions but we were afraid to ask questions because no one wanted to look like “that pervy kid”.

A church friend (a girl a year younger than me) invited me and other kids over to her house and she showed us a porno she found in the house. I don’t know where she got it from but we sat down and watched it in silence. When it was finished, none of us said a word and we pretended we didn’t see what we saw.

Lastly, from reading books. These coming of age teen books were very descriptive and from everything I learned at school and the visuals from the porn, I now could imagine it with the words that were written.

My dad once tried his best to give me “the talk”. He said in Korean, “Don’t trust any boy. He’ll just steal your virginity and your dignity. You’re like a precious flower, so protect yourself.” Every time he brought it up, I couldn’t help but laugh, partly because of how dramatic it sounded and cause… well it was my dad.

This is half relatable… I learned through cousins and friends, who didn’t know any better and books.

Your Dad tried, points to him for that. We never got ‘the talk’ because it was not done, conservative and all that 😁

😆 do you have the talk with your kids?

I’ve done a little with the teen. He’s such a child so taking it a little slow but now it’s high time 😅.

Little girl questions me directly 😁

😆 I wish I had someone I felt comfortable enough to ask those questions growing up haha

No one ever told me anything at home- I learned hit and miss from schoolmates. We had sex ed in 11th grade- but it was way too late for me by then- I’d already learned first hand.

11th grade is rather late lol my parents were not happy that we were taught about sex in grade school but it’s happening

Well, good for your dad doing his best to talk with you. My parents left me flailing on my own. Thankfully, my neighbor (two years older than me) had sex ed lessons through her Catholic church, and she hauled me along with her. There was no sex ed in school way back in the day.

Side note: I’m really struggling to read blogs and keep up. I have family matters I’m still taking care of and several projects in the works – like finishing a book! And putting all my books into paperback format! I’ve never had them in paperback, so I bought a program for formatting and am making myself crazy trying to learn it. So … I may seem absent here and there, but eventually I’ll show up, and one day I’ll try to go back to see what I missed. Just wanted you to know. I hate not keeping up with you. Your life delights me so much!! 🙂

Thanks for letting me know! If there’s anything I can help with, just lmk and I’ll do my best! And I would loooove to read all your books whenever they get into paperback! Omg that sounds daunting… but I am excited for you!

I leaned everything from the Gods of internet…

dads are always protective…and that’s perfect dynamic! ❤️ Your dad knows their flower has bloomed into a more quirkier version…! He is proud
