Currently listening to: toxic till the end – ROSÉ
Uh huh
‘Cause even when I said it was over
You heard, “Baby, can you pull me in closer?”
You were
Plotting how to stay in my head
We were toxic ’til the end
So apparently, I can’t read because I thought I bought BLACKPINK photo cards… but nope. They were UNO cards. Still cute, just not what I had in mind. But since I ran out of photo cards anyway, each friendship bracelet I give out is accompanied by a random UNO card.
Fit check: Maggie made my t-shirt (she’s so crafty), and I pulled out this hat I got back in 2022. Threw in the blue contacts for a pop. Maybe I’ll do green contacts next time?
Kathy and Kim came over around 1430 and then we all swung by to pick up Maggie at 1500. We planned to meet early so we could eat first before heading to the venue where the prices would be ridiculous.
We landed at CAVA ,basically the Mediterranean cousin of Chipotle, and I went in on a bowl: half salad, half basmati rice, cucumber salad, avocado, red pepper hummus, chicken, and another scoop of hummus for good measure. It hit the spot. I didn’t realize how hungry I was till I tore it up. All I had earlier that day were two cups of coffee and a string cheese.
We got to Inglewood and parked in the purple lot at SoFi. I had bought parking ahead of time for $40, and thank God I did—heard people had to pay $100 on the spot. That’s egregious.
Since we had some time, we wandered around the stadium grounds, traded bracelets with other randos, and took a bunch of pics. The energy was already buzzing before we even got in. Once we finally joined the queue to enter the venue, the excitement kicked in. Maggie and I were seated together, and Kathy and Kim were up in the nosebleeds since they bought their tickets last minute.
Maggie and I grabbed drinks—both of us went for the Pink Venom cocktail (I love lychee, so obviously I was into it). I don’t know if it was the drink or just the adrenaline, but I ended up throwing my hair up into a ponytail before the show started.
Our seats were great. Not ground level this time, and that was a conscious choice. Learned my lesson from the last BLACKPINK concert—floor seats seem fun until you’re behind a 6’4″ wall of a man and security won’t let me stand on the chairs to see. This time I got first level off to the side, way better view and no regrets.
I brought my Bl-ping-bong (BLACKPINK’s lightstick name), but it’s an older version and wouldn’t sync with the app. Not that it mattered—Kathy had a newer one and it didn’t really do much either, even synced. So there’s that.
At some point, I got a random craving for churros. We grabbed some and oh my Goddess—warm, soft, slightly crispy, melted in my mouth. Paired with my drink, it was a vibe.
Also… Lisa was my bias for so long but I think Rosé’s gonna be my bias wrecker.
NGL, I was kind of annoyed about the screen setup. The way it curved distorted the visuals and they didn’t even bother to light up the screens above the stage, unlike Stray Kids. Lucky for us, our seats were good, but if you were sitting way up? Probably not the best experience.
Kathy immediately texted me asking me for a snap, she wanted to see what our view looked like. Once she got my text, she asked me to share with her my videos and pics.
Also, the dancers were killing it but one of their facial expressions? Unintentionally hilarious. I couldn’t unsee it once I noticed.
Vocally, I think Jisoo stood out the most—she sounded amazing. Her song Earthquake really hit. And Rosé kept teasing that the Sunday crowd was better than Saturday’s… probably because she knew there were some surprise guests in the building.
When Bruno Mars came out to perform APT? I lost my shit. That was iconic. No one from the other concert days got that moment. It’s a total flex. Also, everyone was buzzing that RM and SUGA from BTS were there there watching from one of the suites, and Rosé’s parents flew in too. It was a stacked night.
We dipped right before the encore to dodge traffic. The show was sold out—75,000 people all trying to leave at once? No thank you. Last month, Maria and I got stuck for nearly two hours trying to escape the gnarly traffic. Not making that mistake again.
All in all, 10/10 night. UNO mishap and all. I was also happy to get my exercise on.
