gone girl gone

Currently listening to: Back From The Dead – Skylar Grey feat. Big Sean, Travis Barker

I held the funeral the day you leftA black umbrella and a sad song in my headBuried your pictures that I loved the most‘Cause if you survived me I just didn’t wanna knowSo you can’t just come back now like a demon uninvitedNo you can’t just expect me to open my door to you because

I’m in a handful of group chats on TEAMS — some are for actual work, like project updates or meeting threads. Others… well, they exist purely for the chisme. You know the ones. A bit of gossip, a sprinkle of unnecessary commentary, and the occasional humblebrag that’s not so humble.

What drives me up the wall is when certain colleagues just keep circling back to talk about how amazing and important they are — over and over again. It becomes background noise, but not in a peaceful lo-fi kind of way. More like… static interrupting my brainwaves.

So when the chat becomes more of a distraction than a discussion, I do what I need to do.

“Rojie has left the chat.”

Yes. I really left.
And yes, my coworkers will immediately message me on the side, like, “Wait… did you actually leave?”
I reply, “I mean… yeah? I’m busy. I have things to do, deadlines to meet, I don’t have time for whatever is going on in the chat right now. If there’s anything truly important, just loop me back in or send over the highlights.”

Technically, I could mute the conversation but I don’t want all the clutter in my TEAMS either.

Does anyone else do this too?

I can relate to the “left the group.” The notifications are annoying, especially that the topic for you is nonsense. Better to flee🤭

      Hehe exactly!

every Sunday I declutter all my messaging apps and devices. I have mentioned – I have also stated in a contract with my client that all chats and mails that go through my personal number phone and mails are subject to deletion at any time. So if they want the database of their clients they can do a CRM or hand a different device…

I am pretty much sorted! 😌 I hate folks who just create groups on groups on groups…lol

That’s a great way to organize!

I’m not in a situation where I have the opportunity to do that … but I would. I suppose it’s one thing we share like stories about ourselves here when responding to post or comments, but when it’s live chat, and someone is extolling their virtues (especially more than once), that would get old fast. Yes, leave. 🙂

Idk it’s like my computer is always sending me notifications and we’re busy and to check and see that it’s about nonsense is silly to me

I have some techniques for certain individuals, me it’s related to phone calls Rojie lol! But I love texting sending and receiving, I often re-read lol!

One colleague had a 4:30 meeting EVERY WORK DAY that regularly went past 5. I dropped at 5 (but silently – he got annoyed when I suggested an earlier start time or sticking to material relevant to our work).
Thankfully, he retired, and his replacement moved the meeting to 4 and usually ends it by 4:15.

Being part of some group though necessary can be exhausting.

Oh Rojie. What I am about to confess is something that I’m not proud about. I used to get so fed up knowing those calls… the pomposity, the jargon, the posturing… I’d do things to make to make them more “lively”…

put the phone in front of the parakeet cage (not muted) and let the two budgies cheep and chirp their thoughts into the convo… often as deep as the ranking exec
flush the commode. Maybe twice. Moderator: “Uhm… could we all go on mute please?”
put this on, put the phone up to the speaker https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qNf9nzvnd1k&pp=ygURTG93IHRvIGhpZ2ggc291bmQ%3D
Sigh/mouth breathe, esp during jargon-filled monologs where everyone’s in agony
    Buzzword bingo, the crowd pleaser
one time, a guy was on his riding mower the entire friggin meeting. It ended early 😂

I dunno. You get my drift. It’s such a farce. We’re here for a season and then gone. Who really gives a sh*t about this?

I’ve been retired for a few years now. If y’all have come up with any new tactics, would love to hear ‘em 😂😎❤️

AHHAHAA i had a great laugh reading this. when we don’t have our cameras on, i’m mostly on my phone and i mute myself… just in case something naughty slips out of my mouth that i might regret later on. thanks for the laugh, i needed it!
