I’ve done that multiple times before. One time, I went dark while I was dating Richard, and he absolutely freaked out. He couldn’t keep tabs on me anymore, couldn’t see where I was or what I was doing. TBH, I barely noticed since most days I’d forget my phone at home anyway. I still had my work phone, but he never got that number—on purpose.
It was actually liberating. Zero fucks given. My mind was clearer, the noise was gone, and I felt like I could do more without being distracted. My friends were lowkey panicking, wondering what I was up to like I’d been snatched up and vanished. But I wasn’t doing anything dramatic—I was just living. Reading, listening to music, watching my shows, exercising. The same things I always do, just without the digital spectators.
If they wanted to reach me, they had to text or write me an e-mail. And they would have to wait for me to respond back which could take minutes or hours, depending on what I was up to.
