Amongst my friends, I’ve earned the title of the kitsch queen. I love quirky things, food, skincare, and music. I completely appreciate timeless pieces but I’m also drawn to trendy things as well. I’ve taken several courses on forecasting and trend analysis, which makes it easy to identify trends early on.
Zaddy, who is an artist whose aesthetic is definitely to my liking, would have a cult-like following if he brought his whimsical art to life. He would talk shit about my Tokidoki apparel and handbags. I wouldn’t take too much offense to it, in fact it made me smile because I knew he could create and design something better than Tokidoki or anything that’s being sold at POP MART…or anywhere else. If he had done it, I would have bought it all.
I’ve been wearing bows and embellished barrettes in my hair for awhile and it’s starting to be a thing again. It’s giving…demure. It’s a must thing for fall 2024, BTW. I also think that banana clips will come back in style again and I’m here for it. They had a brief moment in 2021 but it’s not over yet.
Years ago, I mentioned to my friends that I wanted to get a LABUBU plushie. They scoffed and laughed at me. Now, because LABUBU is trending hard, they all want one. The FOMO is real with them. They also gatekeep from me too, whereas in I’m willing to share where I get things (cept porn sites lol but maybe I’ll share those later on). Le sigh.
I’ve been rocking charms on my bags for years now and my mom would give me a disapproving look and shake her head.
Mom: 몇 살이야? (how old are you?)
Mom: 열살 ? (ten years old?)
Me: 여덟 살 (eight years old)
Me: Eight at best
