I get invited to nice steakhouses and trendy restaurants for these dinners.
It’s interesting to sit there and listen to people.ย I,ย for the most part, eavesdrop on what people say because I’m shy and I hate talking to strangers. My cara de fuchi deters most people from engaging with me, which is fine with me.
They talk about their work, credentials, their practice, how much money they earn, and what not.ย Sometimes, they say informative things and I take a mental note on what was said.ย Other times, it’s like a pissing match on who can one up the other.ย At that point, I tend to tune people out and disassociate.
But let’s talk about the food for the night.ย It was a four course meal.
Appetizer: calamari and brussels sprouts.
Second: not pictured was my Caesar salad.
Main: ribeye (medium rare).
Desserts: banana foster + cheesecake.
ย ย
I took two bites of the ribeye and had it packed up.ย I shared the banana foster with the people around me and took the cheesecake to go.
After our presentation and meal, my colleague and I met up at the parking lot.ย There, she was talking…and talking…and talking…I could see my social battery slowly draining.ย I asked her if she minded if we walked and talked because I have to close my rings and still have yet to hit 10,000 steps for the day.ย She agreed…and two hours later, we finally said goodnight.ย I was well over the 15,000 step mark and I was dead tired.ย I’m not sure how I made it home but I made it.
