What made you happy this month?
Prompt created by yours truly.
Feel free to use any prompts for August that I post and/or tag me.
I’d love to read your responses
I’ve been working about 70-80 hours a week this month. Part of me is thankful that I work in an environment where it is cool because the weather has been hot as balls lately. There has been no reprieve for weeks. I would much rather go through a blizzard than a heat wave.
Because it’s been scorching hot AF, my appetite has shrunk incredibly since my body is redirecting blood flow to my skin to cool down which in turn makes my stomach empty slower so I feel fuller for longer, the copious amounts of water I’m consuming is taking up space in my stomach instead of food, and eating creates an increase in body heat so I try to limit the amount that I’m eating. I’ll eat a couple of bites, get full, and then box up the leftovers or tell my friends to take it home. To my surprise and delight, I lost five pounds during the month, which is awesome because I haven’t exercised (aside from going on my vibrating plate for 10 minutes a day) at all this month.
Aside from working a lot, my colleagues, friends, and fam have taken me out to lunch/dinner. I think they feel sorry for me or they think that I’m developing some sort of active eating disorder.
Here are many things that made me happy this month (mostly food related):

Vietnamese food
Left: bánh ít ram – steam mochi dumplings stuffed with pork and shrimp topped with ground shrimp and scallion over fried mochi dumplings served with fish sauce
Right: I had the soup on the bottom which is mì quảng – bowl of egg noodles with pork, shrimp, fish cake, and vegetables topped with roasted peanuts and sesame rice cracker

Burgers
Smash burgers from two different burger joints.

Persian food (homemade)
Left: zereshk polo with beef – slow cooked beef shank with barberries, sliced onions, tumeric, salt, pepper, tomato paste, basmati rice
Right: kashk-e bademjan – roasted eggplant, kashk , garlic, onions, and dried mint
I also had chicken kebab not pictured.

Chinese food
Left: stir fried string beans with garlic, ginger, dry chili pepper
Right: orange chicken – chicken bites with orange sauce

Left: crispy beef – beef strips that are flash-fried and tossed in sweet sauce
Right: salt and pepper fish filet

Left: eggplant with garlic sauce
Right: XLB – juicy pork dumplings

Japanese food
Left: shrimp musubi
Right: Spam musubi with miso jalapeños

Mountain yam and mentai cheese.

Hong Kong food
Jumbo pomelo and mango with sago.

Taiwanese food
Mango pandan sticky rice smoothie. NGL, this is one thing I ate in its entirety. I had them put zero sugar in mine.

At Costco I bought these and they were pretty good and filling. I ate one piece along with my celery for breakfast. After my coworkers and I polished off the bag, I went to Trader Joe’s and got medjool dates and peanut butter to make my own for a lot less.

I went to the Chumash museum for a Native American show screening and spent time with my brother and his fam. My brother has the AC blasting and even though I was cold and my stomach was cramping and giving me diarrhea (TMI, I know), I didn’t dare complain.

Bruh’s Dodger’s collection. I’m thinking of giving him my Mookie Betts ring.

Chicago knows wassup.
I can’t wait to see them again soon. Le sigh.

IDK why but this made me laugh so much when I saw it.
