Currently listening to: Country Grammar – Nelly
Play by my rules, boo, and you gon’ stay high
May I answer your Third Question like A.I
Say hi to my players left in the slamma
From St. Louis to Memphis, from Texas back up to Indiana
Chi-Town, K.C., Motown to Alabama
L.A., New York Yankee sluggers to Hotlanta
Louisiana, gettin paid off this country grammar
Smokin’ – in Savannah, blow thirty mil’ like I’m Hammer
What’s one writing rule that you completely ignore?
Korean is my first language, English is my second language, and Spanish is my third language.
I’m also fluent in Spanglish, Engrish, gen z, millennial, North-Central American English/Upper Midwestern dialect and the Texan twang/drawl. When I was in Boston, I annoyed the SHIT out of people when I returned to Minnesota with that Eastern New England English.
People in California love to point out my Minnesotan accent. Ya shore, you betcha!
I still don’t know what Gambit (Channing Tatum) was saying in Deadpool & Wolverine half the time till I turned on the subtitles.
Anyway, I digress.
I am quite possibly an English teacher/professor’s + Beau Mec’s worst nightmare. If my English educators could see me now.
I learn the rules so I can break them. Teehee.
I was worse though… like WhN I TyPeD LyK DiS.
Hmm things that I currently do?
- not typing the first letter of the title in caps. It’s the aesthetics for me.
- incorrectly using ellipsis …
- hella typos or missing words but I honestly think I’m too tired to reread what I originally wrote and will catch it the next day after it’s published
- starting sentences with “and,” but,” or “so”
- fragmented sentences
- overuse of the — em dash
I’m sure there are more, feel free to comment about them. LOL!
