sisterhood of the traveling journal part 1

LINK: sisterhood of the traveling journal part 1

I was recruited by a friend of mine to partake in the sisterhood of the traveling journal. Each person has a journal that is shipped to a person and after a month, it is then mailed to the next person, and so forth until you receive your own.

In this particular group, we started off with nine women but as luck would have it, one person dropped out. She was the one who was supposed to mail the journal to me but for whatever reason, things got backed up on her end. She ended up mailing me three journals at once that she held onto, which delayed everyone else from getting them from me.

I had to do my best to crank out my part, design, and then ship it out ASAP. I can tell you that it wasn’t my best work because I was pressed for time and I was also working a lot.

This was the first one that I received. It was really cute.

Some journals had a map where you could mark where you’re from.

Others had greetings and instructions on what they wanted in their journals.

Everyone had different aesthetics, which was really cool because it was giving me ideas. Lots of ideas.

I liked how interactive things were and it was fun getting to know the other women.

People are so creative. Everyone had a cassette that folded back, where we could write who our favorite musicians are.

More cassettes and record player. I need to figure out how to do the record player because it actually spins.

People were really going all out. I’m kinda embarrassed that I hardly did anything to my cover.

Another beautiful cover.

Everyone was given a playing card to decorate and place into the pocket.

Haha and we each had a flip phone to decorate.

A place where we can put any sticker that we want on this page.

This is a play on those public trinket trade boxes where people can swap. It’s such a fun concept. Take a trinket, leave a trinket is the philosophy.

And you can’t go wrong wit Hello Kitty.

I love the vibe on these pages.

We each had a color to build a page.

This was another page that I made that was about flowers. I think this was one of the first journals that I did and NGL, it came out horribly. I didn’t know what I was doing and it looked very sloppy. I had to redo the trim of the main pic.

On another journal, this was my page. I wasn’t done but I thought I ought to take pics of it before I forget.

I added a flap page to add dimension. I used a large ENHYPEN magazine that I got for free and ripped out the pages to use for the backgrounds.

This was a “Who Am I” page that I made on another person’s journal. This lists all the things that I love (K-pop, school, and etc.) and the pictures flap.

And of course I had to make this page for a fellow STAY. I hope she liked the Hyunjin Dutch door style. And yes, it was very necessary for me to put a huge picture of Felix in the middle of the pages.

Now that I know what to expect and have seen in person how people are designing theirs, I’ll do a better job next time.

I’ll share mine once I get it back. I’m pretty excited to see how it turns out. I can’t wait!
