Once upon a time I was falling in love
But now I’m only falling apart
There’s nothing I can do
A total eclipse of the heart
A friend and former colleague of mine, Romeo, was throwing a birthday party at his house. He and his wife invited me and told me to bring a guest. I decided to bring Sally as my +1, since they know one another and I thought she would enjoy it.
If Sally thought I was boujiee, she hadn’t seen anything yet.
Romeo turned 40 years old and is now retired. Yup, he’s living my dream.

I asked him what he does now that he has all this time. He said that he drives around in one of his many fancy cars and plays Pokémon Go.
I’ve been to several of his parties and every time, there’s been food galore. I knew that I was going to be putting on the feedbag so I prepared by fasting all morning and afternoon.
The theme of this party was F1 related. They requested everyone to wear their racing gear. Umm. I had to order a racing t-shirt online since I didn’t have anything remotely F1-ish. A lot of people were wearing full on racing suits. It was pretty damn cool.

Romeo is Filipino so of course there was hella Filipino food. I don’t know what a lot of this was in the picture, my knowledge of Filipino cuisine consists mostly of lumpia, pancit, and lechon.
NGL, I was a little sad that they didn’t have Filipino spaghetti.

He had a taqueria at the party with carnitas, carne asada, and pollo.

I got a carne asada taco, Filipino fried chicken wings, lumpia, eggplant adobo, and an empanada.
My stomach must have shrunk too much while fasting because I wasn’t able to eat a lot.
And then, Sally told me to turn around and I immediately began to salivate. Pizza. I love pizza.

My fat ass had to get two slices because one was not enough.

Quattro formaggio: mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta, gorgonzola, and truffle oil
I couldn’t remember the name of the other pizza but it had: mozzarella, sausage, mushrooms, basil, and hot honey.

Romeo had a full open bar with signature drinks. The drinks were free and of course everyone was taking advantage of the free booze.
I opted for the Guava Go Go. The bartender had a heavy pour. I was lit after one drink. Who am I?
I caught up with Romeo an hour later and he was shit faced. He started telling us that he was proud of me. Then he rambled about having his 15th shot. Of what? IDK. He talked about how he’s basically become an alcoholic since he’s not doing much. I could see how that could easily happen since his friends were gifting him expensive alcohol (bottles of: Hibiki whiskeys, Glenfiddich and Macallan scotch, and Johnnie Walker (I don’t remember which label cause I was on a good buzz myself)), for his birthday.

They had a bunch of dessert options: birthday cake, designer cookies, churro bar with ice cream, and a table full of Filipino desserts (not pictured).

There were so many options for the churros.

I went basic and got vanilla with cinnamon on my churros. I also got a plate of ube biko and ube cheesecake with chocolate. I had a bite of everything and then packed all the food that I couldn’t finish to-go except the ice cream.
I was absolutely stuffed. I wanted to eat more but I couldn’t.
The DJ was spinning some dope remixes, music from the 90’s and 2000’s. The party had over 100 people present and we were all getting faded. When the DJ played This is How We Do It, everyone lost their shit.
They had giveaway prizes too like packs of Pokémon cards and other stuff. I couldn’t really hear everything that was being said cause it was so loud and there were tons of people. Everyone got goodie treats along with a box to put all the food they could take to go.
Sally was in awe of the whole night. She took pictures, texted her husband “OMG look at this” and sent pics of everything. I think she had a great time. She kept thanking me for inviting her. I know I had a great time and so did my stomach.
