Krystiana asked me if I wanted to go to the hospital of emotions with her… and of course I said, “Yes”.

It’s an immersive art exhibit in an abandoned hospital in Los Angeles. There are more than 70 artists who have transformed four floors of the hospital that invite visitors to confront difficult emotions.

The different floors in the hospital. Feel free to scan the QR code.

The ambulance.

I took a pic cause I’ve never seen it written in Korean before.

These were a couple of my fav exhibits on this floor.

Botanical Currents – Lenny Gerard

Room 04: Botanical Currents – explores the relationship between nature and technology. In this installation, plants grow out of electrical outlets-symbols of the systems that power our modern world.

Technology is constantly advancing, especially in the age of artificial intelligence, but it is still fragile. Natural forces like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and wildfires can quickly destroy the infrastructure humans build.

Nature has existed far longer than any technology and will continue long after many of our systems fail. Even in cities, plants break through concrete and reclaim abandoned spaces.

This work is a reminder that while technology may feel powerful, nature is ultimately the most resilient force on Earth.

Breathworks – Anna Matsumoto & Bhumikorn Kongtaveelert

Room 06: Breathworks – transforms a hospital operating room into a living organism.

Inspired by the respiratory system that sustains human life, the installation reimagines the clinical hospital environment as a life cycle that starts and ends with a single breath. Tubing, light, and soft pneumatic systems grow like an artificial cyborg organ system, slowly expanding and contracting via air pressure, as the room itself were breathing.

As visitors approach and interact with the environment, the room gradually awakens and responds. Breathworks explores resilience not as a fragile, relational process sustained through care, contact, and shared presence.
