A few weeks ago, I got microneedling done on my face. This time around, the same friend who did my microneedling gave me a 30% TCA chemical peel over the weekend.

This isn’t my first go around, in fact I think I’ve done this about eight times over the past several years. The trichloroacetic acid exfoliates the skin and removes the outer layers. It’s supposed to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, minimize scars, and improve skin texture and tone. I’ve seen teenagers get this treatment (approved by their parents, obvi), IDK why but to each their own I suppose.
When I was in the fifth grade, I got the chicken pox real bad. It was so damn itchy that my mom had to put socks over my hands to prevent me from scratching my face off. Well, I would take them off at night and wake up to a bloody face because apparently as I was sleeping, I was clawing at my face.
The first couple of days, my skin feels raw, like someone put sandpaper to my face.
Then the peeling comes on days 3-5, it starts around the nose and mouth usually due to talking and eating. I apply Aquaphor to my face to prevent premature peeling.
From days 6-10, most if not all of my face has completely peeled and the new skin is revealed.
My friends think I’m a masochist. And maybe I am…
