I went to visit my Bolivian friend who brought me back treats from her trip back home.

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I wasn’t eating gluten. I accepted the chocolates and brought them home with me.
She joked that she was going to have me pronounce her words for her. Even though she’s Bolivian, she can’t roll her R’s.
Her: how do you say “car” in Spanish?
Me: coche, auto, carrrrrro
Her: in Bolivia, we say auto
Me: claro, güey
Her: bruh, you’re basically a Latina
Me: maybe in my previous life, I was
I was heavily influenced by my dad and minored in Spanish. He could speak some Spanish with a Korean accent, “Muchas grasshias.” He loved Mexican food… lengua, cabeza, and all that. He followed a Peruvian pan flutist who used to perform at the Minnesota malls and bought his cds. My dad’s goal was to master the accordion but he passed away before he could.
