“Don’t tell me what you believe. Show me how you treat other people and I’ll tell you what you believe.” – James Talarico

Having lived in Texas and grown up in a Christian household, I never thought I’d see the day when a pastor-in-training (pursuing a Master of Divinity at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary) would be serving as a Texas State Democrat Representative.

In case you haven’t seen Talarico in action:

Representative Noble nearly imploding when Representative Talarico called her out.

Representative Talarico questioning Representative Gerdes about which schools were providing litter boxes for students identifying as furries.

Now he’s running for Senate, pledging not to take corporate PAC money and stepping into the primaries with Jasmine Crockett.

Election day is on March 3rd. May the best man or woman win.

In case you missed the interview on Stephen Colbert since it wasn’t allowed to air on television, but it’s on YouTube.

That quote really captures a powerful truth belief is best revealed through action. Whether one agrees with him or not, James Talarico has certainly sparked conversations at the intersection of faith, politics, and public service.
It’s always interesting to see leaders who openly bring their moral or spiritual formation into the public square, especially in a place as politically dynamic as Texas. His decision to reject corporate PAC money and step into a competitive race adds another layer to the discussion about integrity, representation, and accountability.
Ultimately, as you said, elections give voters the opportunity to weigh values, character, and policy and decide what kind of leadership they want. May the process be thoughtful, respectful, and guided by informed choice.

That’s a quote to frame and hang. Why was his interview not allowed on TV? Too radical is it.
