I know how it feels to be alone
I’ve wandered astray, oh, I’ve been lost
Let out all your tears, I’ll keep you close
Hold on to my hands, don’t give up
Happy Pepero Day!
Pepero is the Korean version of Pocky sticks: thin biscuit sticks dipped in chocolate or other flavors. On November 11th, people in Korea gift Pepero to their friends, fam, coworkers, or love interests to show affection. The tradition started back in the 80’s when two middle school girls exchanged Pepero, wishing each other to grow tall and slim like the snack.

My coworkers surprised me by celebrating Pepero Day with me this year, which made me elated. None of them are Korean, but they showed up with boxes of Pepero snacks and a SKZ (Stray Kids) poster. It’s so heartwarming when non-Koreans take part in something that is specific and niche to Korea. I’m eating one stick a day so I can savor the flavor.
For context: Felix is my bias, and I.N. is my bias wrecker. IYKYK.

Another friend gifted me a box of Kancho – they’re tiny round chocolate filled biscuits with cute faces and names on them. BTS’s Jung Kook was obsessed with them a couple of weeks ago, hunting for his name on the snacky snacks. With these, I will pace myself with one piece a day as well.

I’m also back to my usual girl dinner: cubes of cheese, pumpkin seeds, cashews, and water. Le sigh.
