Do you have “Instagram envy”?
Prompt snagged from: NY Times

I don’t feel bitter or jealous of others lives on IG/TikTok. Most of these influencers live a faux life, showing the public what they want us to see. It’s meant to spark envy but most of it is smoke and mirrors.
With that said, I enjoy being on socials for different reasons. It’s mostly for educational purposes and comical relief. If i’m already doom scrolling, I might as well learn something that makes life a little easier, specially in this economy.

Things like which websites or AI prompts to use for finding deals, cheaper concert tickets, or hotel discounts. I find uncovering these little secrets rather fun, plus it saves me time and money.
I also appreciate the accounts that warn us about sneaky updates from apps and Apple, and even walk us through how to disable invasive settings.

Like this, I turned mine off cause it supposedly matches places in my photos with a global index maintained by Apple. Yeah, no thanks.
I also need to stay on trend. Trends come and go at a lightning speed online. And if I’m going to build rapport with my adolescent patients, I have to know what they’re talking about.

BTW, this trend has long passed but I found it funny because when I was little, all I wanted was to be a white girl. The low income white girl eyes trend: females with light, sunken eyes, dark bags, hooded lids, and downturned corners. Theres no scientific data to back this up but this is what people are judging others socioeconomic status by.
And we can’t forget the memes, right? They never fail me.

Legit me when I’m on a plane or train or basically anywhere, unless I’m with fam or friends.
