I had a dream last night
You were there
You held my hand so tight
I thought I’d just die
When I was living in Dallas, I got to see Tiësto perform at a club and it was absolutely electric. The music was hitting, the lights were insane, and I was having the time of my life. At least… until I disappeared into the bathroom for nearly an hour. I was heavily under the influence, just vibing in my own little world. My boyfriend at the time (he was a complete square, IT nerd) apparently on a frantic search, but my friends eventually found me sitting in a bathroom stall, head tilted back, staring at the ceiling mounted TV screen watching random blobs bouncing around the screen in sync with EDM music.
Back then, I loved going to raves with my friends. The energy is unmatched. People were genuinely friendly, and if you were kind and respectful, they would share whatever they had without hesitation. I would get random hugs from strangers, exchange bracelets, do PLUR (peace, love, unity, and respect) handshakes, and hold hands with random people. There was this magic in the air that made me feel like I belonged.
On my IG feed recently, I came across people posting their kandi cuff exchanges, and I was honestly blown away by the creativity. Some of them were huge—multi-layered, intricate, and colorful. They even had some that light up or even spin. I never made a giant cuff myself, but I always admired how cool they looked and imagined how special it must feel to receive one.
My raving days, though, ended with one disastrous night (electric daisy carnival) that completely ruined the experience for me. When I stopped going, it felt like I lost a whole community, a piece of my identity. I’ve always loved to dance and lose myself in music, and abruptly, that outlet was gone. For a while, I felt genuinely lost without it.

Lately, I’ve been feeling nostalgic, so I treated myself to a cute Hello Kitty kandi cuff from KandiAppleShop. Because no matter how much time passes… you can take a girl out of the rave, but you can’t take the raver out of the girl.
*pro tip* if you like something on Etsy, put it in your cart but don’t check out. A lot of shops are looking to sell their products and will often times send you a coupon for 10-15% off because they know it’s sitting in your cart. Shops will also send you a coupon if you purchase something from them as well, to lure customers back to their shop.
