Eating breakfast. Yeah, I know—it’s supposed to be the most important meal of the day and all that. But I’m the absolute worst at it. Unless I’ve scheduled a brunch in my calendar, I’m on holiday and it includes free meals at the hotel, or one of my thoughtful colleagues brings something in, I’ll most likely skip breakfast altogether. It’s not intentional—it’s just how I’m wired.
My usual routine includes: I wake up, take my iron supplements with water, wait a couple hours, then drink my coffee so I can function. That’s usually enough to tide me over until lunch. I know, it’s not ideal. But I’ve been this way since I was a kid. Growing up, breakfast wasn’t a big thing in my household. My parents didn’t make us morning meals. Most of the time we went straight from bed to school and just waited until lunch to eat. If we were lucky, Sunday mornings after church meant a rare stop at McDonald’s. Otherwise? My stomach got used to growling a little before noon.
