Not too long ago, I watched VAL, the documentary about Val Kilmer on Amazon Prime. It was fascinating—an intimate glimpse into his life, career, and struggles. He had a reputation for being difficult on set, known for his fiery outbursts and unwavering dedication to his craft. But beneath that intensity was one of the most brilliant actors of his time.
Side note—aviators. Not everyone can pull them off. I, for one, look like an absolute dipshit wearing them. But one of the physicians I used to work with, who was also a Navy Commander, could have walked straight onto the set of Top Gun without missing a beat.
Speaking of Top Gun—nothing against Tom Cruise, but I was always more of a Val Kilmer fan. Maverick was cool and all, but Iceman? He was the dude.
RIP, Iceman…
