Are you superstitious?

I would say that I am. Sorta. It’s a cultural thing for me.

There are just a few things that Koreans believe in:

  • the number 4 is unlucky
  • dreaming of pigs or hogs is lucky because they symbolize wealth and fertility
  • dreaming about poop means money will come
  • giving shoes as a presents will cause that person to run away
  • giving knives as a present will cause the relationship to be severed
  • shaking your leg means shaking your fortune away
  • sleeping with the fan on will cause you to die
  • writing someone’s name in red ink means the person will die or is already dead
  • seeing a hearse is good luck
  • it is bad luck to cut your nails at night

Wow! That’s an interesting set. I’ll try to remember not to give knives or cut my nails at night. Or any of the other bad things

Yeah, Koreans are full of superstitions 😆

In the summertime, I sleep with a fan on and I’m still here. That’s weird. It is too hot in Tucson to sleep without a fan on.

Yeah i frequently sleep with the fan on 😆 don’t tell my mom that though

I’ve never liked 4s for some reason! Always a 3, 6, 9 girl (born on the 3rd and 3 resonates the most) lol. Maybe I am a little superstitious, ok 😆

I’m a dead woman. I sleep with a fan. I’ve written my name in red ink. I cut my nails at night. Thanks for this, Rojie!

Just kidding. … I think it’s interesting that you have cultural superstitions. The only thing I’m superstitious about is not letting anyone touch my lottery ticket before the drawing. I don’t need anyone putting any of their bad mojo on my ticket!

Oooh that lotto superstition might be something I should incorporate too!! Cause I def don’t want bad juju on that.

The culture over here states that doing so brings bad luck or something…..

Some planetary stuff plays role etc etc.

Interesting ones. I heard about the shoes breaking up a relationship and the nails. I’ve never dreamt of poop, now I’d like to, could be the lottery 🤣

Lol not the poop 😂😂😂 , its similar about knifes, shoes and nails in India , i never really knew about the fan thing , so Koreans do not sleep with fan on in the summers ? In India , let me tell you some interesting superstitions :
    1. Not to wash hair on Wednesday
    2. Do not lick the container in which you are eating your food or it might rain on your wedding
    3. A black cat crossing your path being bad luck, cutting nails at night being bad luck.
4.Do not call a person from back who is leaving, it will ruin his work .
    5. Taking baths after attending funerals
    6. Itching palm is sign of money is coming.
    7. Women should not enter kitchen while periods, or the temples . And many more😂😂
In my country, we hate superstition for each and every thing 😂😂😂

    1. justrojie Avatar

Then how do women eat when they have their period? 😮 and why Wednesday no washing hair? Damn these are interesting!

      1. Info-Man Avatar

Actually first one is done in some backward area , not every area , I think with time it faded , oh it’s Thursday, I was lil confused, so people think it will turn them to begger( lol i had to google the reason) . I think they are only practice in some conservative areas , and only old aunties do that, the period one was basically made to give women rest in ancient times but changed with times .

        1. justrojie Avatar

Ooooh I see that makes sense!

          1. Info-Man Avatar

Just Indian things 😂😂😂 some superstitions are way more weirder

          2. justrojie Avatar

lol sometimes I wonder if anyone truly believes them all

          3. Info-Man Avatar

Lol some overly conservative aunties do 😂😂
