We 3-wheeling in the fo’ with the gold D’s Oh, why do I live this way? (Hey, must be the money) If you wanna go and get high with me Smoke a L in the back of the Benz-E Oh, why must I feel this way? (Hey, must be the money)Dating is not for the faint of heart. There are scammers, nut jobs, and people with less-than-honorable intentions out there.
These are some things I’ve learned along the way:
- Use a separate email for dating—create a new Gmail account that doesn’t include your real name, age, or location. Keep it anonymous.
- Get a free Google Voice number. You can pick one you like, use it for unlimited texting, calls, and sending small files. Swap the number if needed. You only get one number at a time.
- Stick to in-app communication until you feel comfortable. No need to hand over your number too soon.
- Meet in public, preferably during the day. Drive yourself and don’t share your home address, especially on the first date.
- Share your location (from your phone is best but verbally works too) with a friend and let them know your plans.
- Watch your drink. Never leave it unattended—spiked drinks are real, and you won’t know until it’s too late.
- Be honest on your profile. Nothing’s worse than investing time in someone only to find out it was all built on lies.
- Trust your instincts. If he gives you the ick or throws up red flags, don’t overthink it—just move on.
- Major red flags to watch for:
- Avoids video calls or in-person meetings
- Asks for money (instant block)
- Has an inconsistent story—details keep changing

Have fun and stay safe. If anyone else has any other safe dating advice, feel free to share.
