If someone tells me one more time
“Enjoy your youth, ” I’m gonna cry And I don’t stick up for myself I’m anxious and nothing can help And I wish I’d done this before And I wish people liked me morewhat were your parents doing at your age?
Working hard and raising two kids. Nothing wild, nothing out of pocket—just very much following the rules and living life by the book. They were responsible, predictable, and honestly? A little boring.
Meanwhile, my brother and I? Complete opposites. I have no idea how two straight-laced, rule-abiding people ended up with us because from high school through college, we were menaces. Menace to society. My friends called my brother, Little R. LOL! We were out late, pushing limits, living life like we were invincible. If they ever suspected half the shenanigans we were up to, they would lose sleep over it.
It’s funny thinking about it. At my age, they had it all figured out—or at least, that’s how it seemed. Meanwhile, I’m over here just trying to keep my life together.
