“It’s an irritating reality that many places and events defy description. Angkor Wat and Machu Picchu, for instance, seem to demand silence, like a love affair you can never talk about. For a while after, you fumble for words, trying vainly to assemble a private narrative, an explanation, a comfortable way to frame where you’ve been and what’s happened. In the end, you’re just happy you were there — with your eyes open — and lived to see it.” – Anthony Bourdain

What’s your favorite thing to cook?

I enjoy cooking all types of cuisines but my favorite is Korean.

Is cooking the meat on a grill considered cooking?

I’ve taken cooking classes in Bologna, Italy and Oaxaca, Mexico and had so much fun. For a few years, I was obsessed with the Food Network until Anthony Bourdain passed – RIP. I’ve dated a couple of chefs who owned restaurants and had sushi chef friends who showed me different techniques when it comes to cooking.

Drop your favorite recipe in the comments and I’ll try my best to recreate it.

Hi, buy or catch prep. fresh walley fillets, fry on both sides in butter for 2 minutes about in a fryingpan you can throw into the oven. Then, stick in the oven at a decent heat and long enough to cook through (sorry I can’t remember what heat degree I was using)
It’s really good! And you can batter the fillets too.

I wish I had access to fresh walleye here…I did in Minnesota though. I’ll have to see about getting those.

Yes, cooking meat on a grill is cooking. 🙂 How fun to take classes! I have notebooks with handwritten recipes from YouTube videos.

My favorite “recipe” right now is an outdoor grilled ribeye steak pulled at 119°. Before the new way of eating, I was a sucker for pasta. It was good comfort food.

I love meat 🥩! I love pastas too but trying to cut down on the gluten 😬

I can’t give you our recipe. The cleaning time itself takes hours, intestines for instance 😏. Better to just wait and enjoy the finished product 🤣.

😂 maybe they have it at a restaurant around here

How I wish but no as it is our local delicacy. It is delicious but the cleaning and the smell before that not so much 😁.

You’ll have to take a pic one day so I can live vicariously through you

When I go home. It’s a simple dish made with black sesame seeds, it is super yum 😋

My favorite recipe is the thick green Lentil soup at the local Israeli Restaurant that is now closed. I found a recipe online that works if I do everything as described exactly. http://oughttobeworking.blogspot.com/2007/12/lentil-soup-you-won-soon-forget.html?m=1

While you make it, let us know what you’re listening to. Thanks.

I like Cajun, Thai, and Vietnamese. I don’t think I have eaten Korean. Maybe one day.

    1. justrojie Avatar

Oh wow! I haven’t really had much Cajun before, at least not authentic Thai and Vietnamese foods are yummy!
