return of the mac

Currently listening to: Treat You Better – Shawn Mendes

I know I can treat you better than he canAnd any girl like you deserves a gentlemanTell me, why are we wasting time on all your wasted cryingWhen you should be with me instead?I know I can treat you betterBetter than he can

My first computer was a Mac—back then, everyone seemed to have a Mac, iMac, or Mac Mini.  We had computer classes in grade school and all I remembered was the teacher, Mr. Happy.  Every day when we were about to exit the room to go to our next class, he would tell us, “Have a happy”.  I thought that was really nice because no one else has ever told me to have a happy anything.  Every one needs a Mr. Happy in their lives…

When I got into gaming, my ex built me a custom PC. I remember how cool it looked with all the neon lights, almost like a mini rave in my room. Compared to that, my Mac Mini suddenly felt super boring.

I’ve also had multiple Lenovo laptops for work and home use. When I was in school, I’d take mine to the library to type up notes—until I could feel people’s eyes searing into my back. I type 100 wpm with two errors, and my 10-key speed is 15300 kph with 100% accuracy (accurate as of 1/31/25). As much as I love my speed, the last thing I wanted was to disrupt people trying to study or read.

At work, we use PCs and at home I still use a Mac, which I actually like because I feel like I’m versatile and well-versed in both PC and Macs.

      😆 a job I used to have was being a typist for a company and they had a high volume. That definitely increased my speed.

    Like you, I’ve become well-versed in PC and Mac. They are different. I enjoyed reading your post and response to the prompt. I’m working on my own response to it as well, although I age back to the early days of “Pong”. Thanks for sharing your insights.

    I’m impressed! I don’t know what my ten-key speed was/is, but I was most efficient on 10-key. I was tops in my class typing – but that was back when we were using IBM Selectrics. I don’t know what a top speed could have been. I topped out close to 80wpm. I bet your fingers are a blur!!

      At uni, students would pay me to type their papers that were handwritten or type notes to recorded lectures. That was one of my side hustles aside from selling art and working at the dorm cafeteria

        🙂 Side hustle. I’m even more impressed!

          😂 at that time I spent most of my money on food and drinks
