Currently listening to: What Goes Around…Comes Around – Justin Timberlake
Is this the way it’s really going down?
Is this how we say goodbye?
Should have known better when you came around
That you were gonna make me cry
It’s breaking my heart to watch you run around
‘Cause I know that you’re living a lie
But that’s okay, baby, ’cause in time you will find
What goes around, goes around, goes around
Comes all the way back around
What is your favorite animal?
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Instead, I will use the prompt from TheCoffeeMonsterzCO. If WP recycles their prompts, then I will regularly be using TCMC’s daily prompts come mid-March. I like her vibe, creativity, and hustle mentality. I’ve been following her IG and YouTube channel since she was in high school and in a way, it’s like we grew up together.
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting at your job?

There are a few things I would say:
- treat your patients with dignity and respect. They’re not here because they’re healthy or in a good place in their lives.
- safety first. Always.
- use your critical thinking skills because nothing is always black and white or in an algorithm. Even though I utilize AI at work, I have to double-triple check everything because sometimes there will be errors.
- if you don’t know, then ask. Don’t go rogue.
- don’t fake it till you make it. Peoples lives hang in the balance.
- whatever you learned in school doesn’t always translate to real life experiences.
- whatever issues you have in your personal life, don’t let it bleed into your professional life. This could compromise patient care.
- remember, you’re a mandated reporter. If you suspect abuse or neglect relating to children, elders, or dependent adults, make sure the proper authorities are notified.
- don’t take shortcuts and make sure you form good habits. There are too many M&M and sentinel events where death or serious injuries could have been prevented.
- be organized otherwise you’ll be lost int he sauce. It’s paramount to master time management and triage throughout the day.
- be flexible because anything and I mean anything can happen.
- respect boundaries, this isn’t Grey’s Anatomy.
- practice deep breathing and meditation, it will help you during your most trying moments.
- build a network because you’ll need support from colleagues, families and friends. You can’t do this as a silo.
