Currently listening to: What Goes Around…Comes Around – Justin Timberlake

Is this the way it’s really going down?Is this how we say goodbye?Should have known better when you came aroundThat you were gonna make me cryIt’s breaking my heart to watch you run around‘Cause I know that you’re living a lieBut that’s okay, baby, ’cause in time you will find
What goes around, goes around, goes aroundComes all the way back around

What is your favorite animal?

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

Animal Kingdom

Instead, I will use the prompt from TheCoffeeMonsterzCO. If WP recycles their prompts, then I will regularly be using TCMC’s daily prompts come mid-March.  I like her vibe, creativity, and hustle mentality.  I’ve been following her IG and YouTube channel since she was in high school and in a way, it’s like we grew up together.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting at your job?

There are a few things I would say:

  • treat your patients with dignity and respect.  They’re not here because they’re healthy or in a good place in their lives.
  • safety first.  Always.
  • use your critical thinking skills because nothing is always black and white or in an algorithm.  Even though I utilize AI at work, I have to double-triple check everything because sometimes there will be errors.
  • if you don’t know, then ask.  Don’t go rogue.
  • don’t fake it till you make it.  Peoples lives hang in the balance.
  • whatever issues you have in your personal life, don’t let it bleed into your professional life.  This could compromise patient care.
  • remember, you’re a mandated reporter.  If you suspect abuse or neglect relating to children, elders, or dependent adults, make sure the proper authorities are notified.
  • don’t take shortcuts and form good habits.  There are too many M&Ms and sentinel events where death or serious injuries could have been prevented.
  • be organized otherwise you’ll be lost in the sauce.  It’s paramount to master time management and triage throughout the day.
  • be flexible because anything and I mean anything can happen.
  • respect boundaries, this isn’t Grey’s Anatomy.
  • practice deep breathing and meditation, it will help you during your most trying moments.
  • build a network because you’ll need support from colleagues, families, and friends.  You can’t do this as a silo.

Great ones Rojie. The first one is paramount and over here medical practitioners, whether doctors or nurses act like they’re gods.

We have plenty here. It seems they forget that they’re also serving. What to say though, it’s a status symbol too.

I wish more people in the medical field had your mindset, because I have dealt with many that have the brains for the job but no empathy whatsoever.

I know so many who have poor bedside manners….its really sad cause people would almost rather have a doctor who isn’t as smart but with empathy than doctors who are smart with no empathy
