fire in the hole

Welcome to the Hotel CaliforniaSuch a lovely place (such a lovely place)Such a lovely facePlenty of room at the Hotel CaliforniaAny time of year (any time of year)You can find it here

This is not what I imagined when I told my friends that 2025 was going to be lit.

There are currently seven major fires burning in Southern California, and as of this morning, 70,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate. The Santa Ana winds have caused the fires to grow uncontrollably, making it impossible for helicopters with water buckets to extinguish the flames due to treacherous conditions. Wind gusts have reached up to 100 mph in some areas, further exacerbating the situation.

Over the past two days, a smoke advisory has been in effect due to the fires.

In response, President Biden has directed the Department of Defense to deploy resources, including the California and Nevada National Guards and Navy helicopters. The impact has been devastating, displacing thousands of people—from wealthy actors and athletes to seniors in nursing homes and unhoused populations.

Many friends and acquaintances have witnessed their homes burn to the ground, with little to no time to gather belongings as the fires spread rapidly. Several of my friends have been evacuated and have been invited to stay at my home, and my brother is on standby, ready to evacuate if needed.

In Los Angeles, residents received notices to use only boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking due to significantly low water pressure caused by the unprecedented demand for water in firefighting efforts.

Right now, I am in the clear but nothing is ever certain since it is spreading at an exponential pace.  This has been surreal to be living in a time where I am witnessing the most destructive fire in LA history.  I have been getting countless texts, DMs, and e-mails asking if I have been affected.  Thank you all for your concern and I’ll keep you updated as things progress.

Last thing I remember, I was running for the doorI had to find the passage back to the place I was before“Relax, ” said the night man, “We are programmed to receiveYou can check out any time you like, but you can never leave”

Hopefully there is a rain soon or the firefighters put it out soon. Loads of people need to do a rain dance or something has to happen.

I wish it would just pour rain…we had a dry winter and all the dry shrubbery has ignited the flames even more
