Currently listening to: Casual – Chappell Roan
I know baby no attachment
But weβre
Knee deep in the passenger seat
And youβre eating me out
Is it casual now?
I think high schools should teach students how to budget…but they don’t.Β My dad taught me about the importance of money at an early age.Β At 15 years old, I was working with my friends as a dietary aide.Β Not only was I making a meager wage, I was able to assist with cooking and stuffing my face with American foods that I’ve never eaten before.Β Chicken cacciatore and three bean salad?Β What was this sorcery?
Anyway, I digress.Β I think about money a lot, probably more than the average person.Β Maybe, I should have gone to school to be a finance bruh?Β I have many accountant, CPA, banking and finance lawyer friends who give me tips on how to save more of my hard earned money.Β I have friends who are into crypto currency and they recommend what I should buy.Β My work offers opportunities to learn about different subjects that aren’t necessarily related to healthcare.
I was able to join a webinar with a financial advisor with other coworkers and he recommended to use the budget worksheet (page 2) from MetLife.Β I used to follow Dave Ramsey’s recommendations in the past but with inflation, it just blew it out of the water and is no longer relative to me. Now I’m far from retirement age but my goal is to live and save as much as possible till then.Β For 2025, I plan to use the budget worksheet as a guide.
I actually dislike the word “budget” because it sounds like I’m restricting myself.Β Instead, I’m going to call it “wealth building plan”.Β It’s seems more motivating for me.
