Currently listening to: Smells Like Teen Spirit – Malia J
I first heard this version of this song whilst watching Black Widow and fell in love with it.
With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
When I was a child, I had this grandiose notion that my parents were going to buy me the latest and greatest toys. When Christmas morning came, I was disenchanted and tears would begin swell up as I opened my presents from “Santa”. Pencils, pens, tube socks, and underwear. We were told that toys would clutter the house and it has no significant benefit towards our education. I don’t know why I was hopeful that next year would be different because when it was Christmas morning the following year, it was déjà vecu all over again. From pre-kindergarten till I was in the twelfth grade, this went on and on.
You can only imagine how popular I was when winter break finished. While everyone went to school drippy and being all sigma, there I was with my school supplies and zero rizz. The other students would ask what I got for Christmas and I would ignore them because I didn’t know how to answer their question without being embarrassed or heartbroken.
Anyway, I digress. I may have to rethink about adopting letters for the USPS Santa because damn. They must think I’m Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos. I can do the Robolox gift cards, remote control cars, plushies, and headphones, no problem. But then when they’re asking for a mac pro laptop, vr’s, lizard (lol) and PS5…I don’t think I can do all that.
There are teens asking for a car, e-bikes, giftcards, iPhones, and more. At this point, I’m thinking, “Hey, they gotta shoot their shot because maybe there is someone out there who can do all that for them?”
I’m uncertain if I can pick a few from the lists or if I’m expected to grant them all? I’d seriously hate to disappoint them because I know what it’s like to have your heart set on something and not get it. I’ll have to reach out and query about this matter with the USPS.
