Currently listening to: Malibu – Miley Cyrus
I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean
I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand
But you brought me here and I’m happy that you did
‘Cause now I’m as free as birds catching the wind
Name your top three pet peeves.

I was born in California and returning was a bit of a culture shock. In a way it made me miss the Midwest and realize how sheltered my life was growing up.
- Californians are nice, but it’s like a fake nice. Not everyone but enough for it to be bothersome. They are opportunists and if they feel like they can get something out of you to get an upper hand, they will use you and abuse you with no shame. I would help a lot of people initially, but when I asked for a minor favor, no one seemed to be available.
- Keeping up with the Kims. I can’t even compete and trust me… I don’t even want to. Yet there are times, when I feel like I’m thrust into this unrealistic world with standards that are far-fetched. I live in an affluent neighborhood where everyone flexes… hard. I did not know that leasing cars was a thing. In Minnesota, people bought their cars, there was no leasing skibidi toilet nonsense. I would see my coworkers and friends with new luxury cars every two years and thought that they were wealthy but in reality there were living in a studio eating ramen so they can afford lifestyle.
- Lack of awareness. Adults cussing in front of small children. People opening their car doors without a care when cars are whizzing by. People crossing the road without looking both ways because they’re too busy being on their phones. There are also the emotional vampires who suck up my energy and inner peace because of their self-centeredness. And let’s not forget the Karens, who want to speak with the manager for any type of slight inconvenience.
