Funny how I used to love the night.
The darkness. The lateness. Everything becomes amplified.
Seductive is the night.
Plight after plight, venue after venue, flight after flight.
Last call, the bartenders would say.
I wanted nothing more than for the night to stay.
Fast forward to November 3rd and I feel like I’m in an eternal darkness – ever since daylight saving time ended. I wake up to go to work in the dark. I come home driving in the dark. It’s so much fun with astigmatism too.
As soon as it hits 1730, my body wants to shut down and go into sleep mode (despite gaining an extra hour). But I force myself to go to the gym every day after work because if I don’t, I know that I’ll regret it the next day. With anemia in tow (I take daily iron supplements…but ask me if it helps), my only vices now are working out, DD2, or drinking espresso/coffee. Talk about a wicked cross addiction from sex and other things.
I just need a couple more days to adjust to the change. I’ve been trying to get more sunshine during my break by going for a thirty minute walk before scurrying to my car to take a quick afternoon nap. I also do light therapy with vitamin C, D, and E every day.
I’m still waiting for the Sunshine Protection Act to come into play. It already passed the Senate in 2022, so what’s good, House of Representatives?
Do other countries go through daylight saving time?
