daylight savings

Currently listening to: Nightcall – Kavinsky

I’m giving you a night call to tell you how I feel
(We’ll go all, all, all night long)
I want to drive you through the night, down the hills
(We’ll go all, all, all night long)
I’m gonna tell you something you don’t want to hear
(We’ll go all, all, all night long)
I’m gonna show you where it’s dark, but have no fear
(We’ll go all, all, all night long)

Funny how I used to love the night.
The darkness.  The lateness. Everything becomes amplified.
Seductive is the night.
Plight after plight, venue after venue, flight after flight.
Last call, the bartenders would say.
I wanted nothing more than for the night to stay.

Fast forward to November 3rd and I feel like I’m in an eternal darkness – ever since daylight saving time ended.  I wake up to go to work in the dark.  I come home driving in the dark.  It’s so much fun with astigmatism too.

As soon as it hits 1730, my body wants to shut down and go into sleep mode (despite gaining an extra hour).  But I force myself to go to the gym every day after work because if I don’t, I know that I’ll regret it the next day. With anemia in tow (I take daily iron supplements…but ask me if it helps), my only vices now are working out, DD2, or drinking espresso/coffee.  Talk about a wicked cross addiction from sex and other things.

I just need a couple more days to adjust to the change.  I’ve been trying to get more sunshine during my break by going for a thirty minute walk before scurrying to my car to take a quick afternoon nap.  I also do light therapy with vitamin C, D, and E every day.

I’m still waiting for the Sunshine Protection Act to come into play.  It already passed the Senate in 2022, so what’s good, House of Representatives?

Do other countries go through daylight saving time?

Shall I tell you a recipe for anemia that is better than all of these? Make juice from beets and you can add orange juice and pomegranate extracts to it. Drink it daily for a week, a large cup twice a day. Anemia will end and you will invite me to rojie. A proven recipe that does not disappoint.

First off, I’d never heard that song you shared before, but I loved it! I saved it to my Spotify right away.

Second, I’ve never been a fan of daylight saving time. The sun setting at 4:30 p.m., when just months ago it was still bright at 6:00 p.m., makes the days feel so dreary and depressing. For someone who struggles with depression, sorry, Mother Nature, but I really don’t need the extra help.

Lastly, I miss the days when I could just be outside, walking around, and enjoying life. Between 10-hour workdays, 6 days a week, and my health not being what it used to be, every free moment I get, I just want to sit down and relax.

“Take me back to the days of yesteryear, ugh.”

Yasss I love this song so much…it’s almost got this 80’s electronic vibe to it. And i hear ya about the daylight saving time it really messed with me this year for some reason

Just about every part of Canada does the DST, but not SK. Don’t ask why cos I have no idea. It’s stupid I know. 🙁

    1. justrojie Avatar

It’s hella stupid! Ugh..I guess it’s good to know other countries are doing the same thing…

No DST here but we do need 2 time zones, cause back home 5 PM is pitch dark and here 6 PM still has daylight.

    1. justrojie Avatar

How much time difference between the two?

      1. ibarynt Avatar

I’m not exactly sure, at least an hour I guess.

          Oooh ok

Yep, we do in the UK. Have the same situation here, going to work and coming home in the dark. Lacking so much motivation to do other things other than coming home and starting an early wind down to bed time. You are doing amazing in going to the gym as this will help you in so many ways.
