I don’t speak French but I think the language is sexy AF. When I went to France, I sat there and listened to those sexy French dudes speak English with their dreamy accent. The waiter could have told me that I was a fat sow with his accent and I would have smiled and nodded like a dipshit.
Voir dire…I learned today from the public defender that it means “to speak the truth”. This is the process of jury selection in the U.S. It was an arduous process that took three days to find a jury of eighteen people (six are alternates). Initially, the jury pool was over four hundred people and was whittled to two hundred potential jurors. They had eighteen people in the box and they were picked off one by one due to their bias or potential financial hardship for being on this particular case. My juror number was never called out because after grilling 28 people, they found their jury and were sworn in. TBH, I was surprised that a few of them were still chosen despite the answers they provided to the attorneys and judge but that’s just IMHO.
I really wanted to be a part of this jury but luck was not on my side. My friends think that I’m crazy for wanting to be a juror, but I know that I can be unbiased. I was one of the few who actually wanted to be there. Everyone else was trying to figure out a way to get dismissed from the case.
Since I wasn’t chosen I can discuss the case. After I was released, I Google’d about the defendant and the charges. Triple homicide. Triple murder and special circumstances – multiple murders. The judge mentioned that this case will be getting media coverage and the courtroom was definitely big enough to accommodate that.
