Currently listening to: Night Changes – One Direction
RIP Liam
We’re only getting older, baby
And I’ve been thinking about it lately
Does it ever drive you crazy
Just how fast the night changes?
Everything that you’ve ever dreamed of
Disappearing when you wake up
I have chronic intermittent pain.
It’s from a combination of:
- poor posture and slouching (I feel like Godzilla next to my very petite Asian friends and I just want to shrink to their 5’1″ frame)
- work injury when I was 25 years old, this put me out of commission for nearly a year. I had to see multiple orthopedics specialists, ortho surgeons, and chiropractors. I have herniated discs in my C3-5 and if they get bigger, I will need to have surgery, which requires them to go through the front of my neck. It also affected my lumbar region.
- motor vehicle accidents that were NOT my fault. A driver in front of me, decided that reverse was the new forward. I honked and yelled at him but he wasn’t paying attention. Needless to say, he crashed into my front bumper and I got whiplash. I mean who does that? The last accident was a couple of years ago when I was t-boned while driving in LA, a guy ran a red light when I had a green light and crashed into my side of the car.
- there’s also the nasty monthly woman disease cramps.
Despite all this, I didn’t let it define my life. I still do what I want to do. It doesn’t slow me down. I’ve been going to Compton for dance classes. Having sex in the back of my car or wherever and being quite flexible (Zaddy can verify). *grins*. Hiking, running, hip hop and latin dancing, wear stilettos and high heels, curling up like a cooked shrimp, and whatever else I want to do.
I just make sure that I stretch every day, get routine checkups, exercise regularly, and eat a balanced diet. I have ergo everything at work, they had a specialist come out and evaluate me and my workspace. If I get a flare up of pain, which is rare (maybe once or twice a year), I’ll take 400-800 mg of Ibuprofen with food and in about an hour, I’m good as new. I have a high tolerance for pain and I’m so grateful for that.
