On the menu:
Appetizer: goat cheese & artichoke dip
Salad: steak house salad
Entree: 11 oz filet with lobster tail
Sides: garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach
Dessert: chocolate flourless cake
As the salad was coming around, I was already full. How the hell is someone supposed to eat all this?
My ears were listening and I was hearing snippets of people’s conversations.
“I’m going to get let go. I can just feel it. They’re going to do it.”
“I’m going on an 18-hour fast after tomorrow”.
“Come over for a Botox party.”
“Happy mistress day!”
Apparently, mistress/side dude day is a thing. Those in a relationship have Valentine’s Day with their significant others but the day before or after is for their sancha/sancho. I love that for them.
Almost everyone at the dinner tonight was new. I haven’t seen these people before in my whole life except for those who sat near me. I listened to the presenter as if I were back in school and we were listening to a lecture, except I was taking mental notes versus written ones. When the slide deck on striatum was presented, I was trying to absorb as much information as possible. I didn’t have the bandwidth to be social. I ate my lobster tail and boxed the rest to go.
